As part of Science Week we had a fun assembly with Mr Roden on Wednesday…..can you remember what experiment he did?
In the afternoon we then did our class experiment to see if we could separate mixtures of colours. It seemed to work really well!
What did you enjoy most about Science a Week?
The children have been exploring the world of toys this week, in particular how they might move. Ask your child how their toy moved if they were excited, happy or sad! It was interesting to see their reactions.
Year 5 & Year 6 were mixed into four teams: Red, Blue, Yellow and Green.
They competed in lots of different sporting events like sprinting, javelin and skipping to name a few.
Last week 5HF tried a variety of different breads such as granary, tiger bread, baguette, pitta and tortilla.
Today we have been evaluating various sandwich fillings.
Look at the picture, how many fillings can you name?
Mr Jones tried to have his own tasting but was caught by Mrs Mills!!
It’s the return of Frankie the Guinea pig!!
…you’ll see 5HF at the Wyre Forest!!
As part of our topic on Rural vs Urban Year 5 went to visit the Wyre Forest.
When we got there, we went into the visitor centre to learn a little bit of information about the creatures and things we might experience in the forest!
Then we went into the forest and learnt how to build a shelter using only what the forest could provide.
After lunch we went back into the Forest to learn how to build a camp fire.
Everyone had a great day and learnt lots about the Wyre Forest!!
Today in 5HF … Well the picture says it all!!
5HF are studying ‘Holes’ by Louis Sachar.
The children were asked to draw a scene based on the opening chapters of the book. First the children annotated the description which Mr Jones modelled on the board.
Then the children had a go, being careful to only include aspects of the scene they were studying.
Here are some of the finished drawings…
5HF get some early practice in for Sports Day!!
